Bubble Letters Generator makes printable bubble letters from any name, word, message, alphabet, or set of numbers. It runs free in your web browser, and no sign-up is needed. You type your text, pick a letter style and an outline, and then print the sheet or save it as a PDF.
You can make solid outlines for coloring or dotted outlines for tracing. The tool also prints full alphabets in capital and lowercase letters. Nothing is uploaded, and every sheet is drawn as a vector graphic, so the lines stay sharp at any print size. It suits bubble letter coloring pages, name tracing for young children, and classroom handouts.
How to use the Bubble Letters Generator
- Set What to print to My own text for a name, word, or message, or choose an alphabet or Numbers 0 to 9.
- Type your text in Your text. The default is “Hello.”
- Under Pages, choose Each line on its own page or Each word on its own page. Use Lines per page (1 to 6) to stack several lines on one page.
- Under Letters, choose As typed, UPPERCASE, or lowercase. This option works only for your own text.
- If you chose an alphabet, set Letters per page. The default is 6.
- Choose a Letter style: Puffy (Chango), Round (Titan One), or Balloon (Sniglet).
- Choose an Outline: Solid line (to color in) or Dotted line (to trace). Then set Outline thickness.
- Leave Letter size on As big as fits the page, or make the letters smaller. Set Page direction to Automatic, Portrait, or Landscape.
- Optionally tick Draw a cutting box around each letter or Add a name and date line.
- Check the preview, set the paper size to US Letter or A4, and click Print or save as PDF.
The preview updates as you change settings. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet. Use New worksheet for a different sheet with the same settings. Reset settings returns everything to the defaults.
How do I make bubble letters of a name I type?
Type the name in Your text with What to print set to My own text. The tool draws each letter in the style you choose, and the preview shows the result right away. Choose Round or Balloon for long names, because those letters come out larger on the page.
Can I print bubble letters to trace instead of color?
Yes. Set Outline to Dotted line (to trace). The dotted line is a row of round dots, with each dot 1.5 times as wide as the solid line and never smaller than 3 pt. The dots are spaced 1.7 dot widths apart, center to center. Choose Outline thickness to control the dot size: Thin is 2 pt, Medium 4 pt (the default), Thick 6 pt, and Extra thick 9 pt. The outline is never thicker than 7% of the letter size, so small letters keep their shape.
Can I print the whole bubble letter alphabet, capital and lowercase?
Yes. Set What to print to Alphabet, capital and small together (Aa Bb). The alphabet choices set their own letter case, so Letters does not apply. Under Letters per page, the number of pages depends on how many letters you fit on each page:
- A to Z needs 26 pages at 1 per page, 13 at 2, 7 at 4, 5 at 6, 3 at 9, 3 at 12, and 2 at 20.
- Numbers 0 to 9 need 10, 5, 3, 2, 2, 1, and 1 pages for the same settings.
All letters on an alphabet sheet share one size and one baseline. The widest letter sets that size, so a W is wider than an I but is not taller. Tick Draw a cutting box around each letter to add a light dashed box around each letter for cutting out cards.
What font are the bubble letters, and is it free to use?
The tool offers three bubble letter fonts. Puffy uses Chango and is wide, with large open insides. Round uses Titan One, which is narrower, so long words print larger. Balloon uses Sniglet ExtraBold, which is very round and has small dots for the holes in letters like a, e, and o. All three fonts use the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and they are hosted with the tool. For the word Emma on a portrait page, the letter size is about 1.65 inches in Puffy, 2.13 inches in Round, and 2.04 inches in Balloon.
Can I print bubble letters on landscape paper for a long word?
Yes. Leave Page direction on Automatic, and the tool picks landscape when it makes the letters at least 25% bigger. Words such as Hello, Emma, Mia, and Happy Birthday usually print in landscape. A single letter per page and alphabet grids usually stay in portrait. Choose Landscape to force it. On a landscape page, the alphabet grid turns too; for example, 2 columns by 3 rows becomes 3 columns by 2 rows.
Very long words shrink to fit the page width. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (34 letters) prints at about 0.38 inch font size, and a note warns that the letters are small. Choosing Round gives the largest letters for a long word.
How do I make a name tracing page with bubble letters for a whole class?
Type one name per line in Your text, with What to print set to My own text. Each line becomes its own page by default, so a class list of 22 names prints 22 pages. Choose Dotted line (to trace) under Outline so every child traces the same style. To fit more names on one page, raise Lines per page, or pick Each word on its own page under Pages to split a longer list into single words. Each line is cut at 60 characters, and the sheet is limited to 40 pages. A note appears if either limit is reached, so check the preview before you print.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Is the Bubble Letters Generator free, and do I need an account?
Yes, the tool is free, and you do not need an account or sign-up. It runs in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded.
Can I print bubble letters on US Letter and A4 paper?
Yes. Choose US Letter or A4 for the paper size before you print. Landscape sheets switch the print page to landscape automatically.
What happens if I type a character the fonts do not have?
Characters the three fonts do not include, such as emoji, Chinese, or Greek letters, are left out of the sheet. A note above the sheet lists the characters that were skipped. Letters with accents such as é, ñ, ü, and ö are supported.
Why does my message print on two lines instead of one?
Messages with several words wrap onto up to 6 lines so the letters are as large as possible. For example, "Happy Birthday" prints on 2 lines because that makes the letters more than 1.5 times bigger than "HappyBirthday" on one line.
How do I save my bubble letter sheet and come back to it later?
Bookmark the page or copy its address, because the address stores your settings. Opening the link later shows the same sheet. The same settings always produce the same sheet.
Can I add a name and date line to my bubble letters?
Yes. Tick **Add a name and date line**. It is off by default, so the letters get the whole page when it stays unticked.
