- CCSS K.OA.A.2
- Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem.
- CCSS 1.OA.C.6
- Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
- CCSS 2.OA.B.2
- Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
- CCSS 2.NBT.B.5
- Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
- CCSS 2.NBT.B.7
- Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
- CCSS 3.NBT.A.2
- Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
- CCSS 4.NBT.B.4
- Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
- CCSS 3.OA.C.7
- Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
- CCSS 4.NBT.B.5
- Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
- CCSS 4.NBT.B.6
- Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

This free Christmas math worksheet generator makes printable Christmas math for kindergarten to 5th grade. Each sheet has a row of trees and ornaments across the top and a set of Christmas story problems about presents, cookies, stockings and reindeer, with the answer key on its own page. It runs in your web browser, so nothing is uploaded, and no account or sign-up is needed.
You choose which operations to mix (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and the size of the numbers for each one, so the same page can serve a first grader adding within 10 and a fifth grader dividing with remainders. If you prefer plain equations, switch Problem style to number problems and the same Christmas border stays on the page. The Christmas math pages you make are free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including Teachers Pay Teachers and Etsy printables.

How to make a Christmas math worksheet
- Type a heading in Title on the sheet. It starts as Christmas Math.
- Choose Problem style: Christmas story problems (the default) or Number problems with a Christmas border.
- Tick the operations you want: Addition (+), Subtraction (−), Multiplication (×) and Division (÷). All four start ticked.
- Open each range menu. Addition and Subtraction go from Within 10 to 4-digit numbers (2-digit is the default). Multiplication goes from Facts up to 5 × 5 to 2 digits × 2 digits (Facts up to 10 × 10 is the default). Division starts at Facts, divide by 2 to 9, and Division remainders can be set to Some remainders.
- Set Order to Mixed together (the default) or Grouped by operation.
- Set Problems. The default is 8, which fits on one page in story style. Choose more for number problems, which take less room, and expect a second page for 10 or more story problems. With number problems you can also set Columns and Layout (Across or Stacked).
- Keep Include answer key ticked if you want the key.
- Click Print or save as PDF. Use New worksheet for different numbers and wording with the same settings, and Reset settings to go back to the defaults.
The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet again.
What grade level are Christmas math worksheets?
They cover kindergarten to 5th grade, and you set the level with the range menus. Within 10 and Within 20 suit kindergarten to 2nd grade. Two-digit addition and subtraction with facts up to 10 × 10 is a common 3rd grade mix. Three-digit numbers, 2 digits × 1 digit multiplication and division with remainders suit 4th grade, and 2 digits × 2 digits multiplication suits 5th. If a sheet feels too easy or too hard, move one range up or down.
Which Christmas math worksheets work for 3rd grade?
The starting settings are a good 3rd grade sheet: 8 story problems that mix 2-digit addition, 2-digit subtraction, times tables to 10 × 10 and division facts. For a 3rd grader who is still learning multiplication, untick Division, or set Multiplication range to Facts up to 5 × 5.
What do the Christmas story problems look like?
Each story problem is built from a normal number problem, so the answer is the same as for the plain equation. An addition problem may read “Santa loads 36 presents onto the first sleigh and 25 presents onto the second. How many presents is that in all?” A subtraction problem uses a jar of candy canes or a string of lights, a multiplication problem uses stockings, sacks or boxes of ornaments, and a division problem shares candy canes among elves or packs cookies into boxes. When division is set to Some remainders, the question asks how many are left over and the key shows both numbers.
Can I use this for kindergarten?
Yes, with the right settings. Untick Multiplication and Division, set Addition range and Subtraction range to Within 10, and keep the 8 problems. Kindergarten children usually cannot read the stories on their own, so read each one aloud or pick Number problems with a Christmas border for short equations they can read themselves.
Does it print well in black and white?
Yes. The border is drawn in plain black outlines and the answer lines are simple underscores, so it prints clearly on any printer without color ink.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Are these Christmas math worksheets free?
Yes. The sheets are made in your web browser, nothing is uploaded, and no account or sign-up is needed.
Which grades are these Christmas math worksheets for?
Kindergarten to 5th grade. The range menus decide the difficulty, not the page, so Within 10 addition suits kindergarten and 1st grade, 2-digit addition and subtraction suit 2nd and 3rd grade, and 2 digits × 1 digit multiplication or division with remainders suit 4th and 5th grade. For grade 6 and up, a different set of pages is a better fit.
Can I make Christmas math worksheets for 3rd grade?
Yes. Keep Addition range and Subtraction range at 2-digit numbers, set Multiplication range to Facts up to 10 × 10 and leave Division range on Facts, divide by 2 to 9. That is a typical 3rd grade mix and it is what the page starts with.
Can I make Christmas math worksheets for kindergarten?
Yes. Untick Multiplication and Division, set Addition range and Subtraction range to Within 10, and keep the 8 problems. Choose Number problems with a Christmas border if you want short equations instead of sentences. Early readers will usually need a grown-up to read the story problems aloud.
Are the answers checked?
Yes. The story problems are written around ordinary number problems, and every number problem is checked a second way before it is used. The answer key gives the same answer for the same problem, and division answers with a remainder say how many are left over.
How many Christmas story problems are there?
Each operation has several different Christmas settings, such as presents, ornaments, cookies, stockings, reindeer and candy canes. Four are used for addition, four for subtraction, four for multiplication and two for division. Numbers change with every sheet, so no two sheets are the same.
Does the answer key print on the same page?
No. The answer key prints on its own page after the worksheet. Untick Include answer key if you do not want it. The paper size can be set to US Letter or A4 in the print dialog.
Can I use the Christmas math worksheets I make here for commercial use?
Yes. The math worksheets and answer keys you make here are royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including Amazon KDP workbooks, Etsy printables and Teachers Pay Teachers. You do not need to give credit. The only limit is that you may not copy the generator itself to run a competing service; see the [terms](/terms/).
