This free cursive C practice sheet lets you print a handwriting page for the capital C and the lowercase c in traditional US cursive. You choose which letters to include, how many tracing rows to print and how large the handwriting lines should be, and the sheet preview updates as you change each setting.
The tool runs in your web browser. Nothing is uploaded, and no account or sign-up is needed.
Each sheet starts with a big model of the capital C and lowercase c, followed by rows of gray letters to trace, rows of two-letter pairs, practice words that contain c, and blank rows to write on. The sheet uses lines with a solid top line, a dashed midline and a solid baseline, so you can see how tall each letter should be. The capital C reaches the top line, and the lowercase c stops at the dashed midline.
How to use the Cursive C practice sheet
- Set Letters to Capital C and lowercase c, Capital C only, or Lowercase c only.
- Choose a Line size: Extra large, 1 inch (pre-K to K), Large, 3/4 inch (K to 1st), Medium, 5/8 inch (2nd), or Small, 3/8 inch (3rd and up).
- Set Rows to trace the capital and Rows to trace the lowercase (0 to 4 each).
- Set Rows of letter pairs (joins) (0 to 3) and Practice words (Off, or 1 to 8 words).
- Optional: type up to 3 of your own words in Your own words. Use letters, hyphens and apostrophes only, up to 14 characters each.
- Set Blank rows to write on (0 to 6).
- Choose Tracing letters (Light gray or Dotted outline), Lines and Color.
- Turn the Big model of the letter at the top and Show descender line checkboxes on or off, and set the paper size to US Letter or A4.
- Check the preview, then click Print or save as PDF. The browser’s print dialog can also save the sheet as a PDF.
All settings are saved in the page address, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet. Reset settings returns every control to its default. New worksheet makes a different sheet with the same settings, and each sheet shows a short worksheet code under the buttons.
How do you write a capital C in cursive?
Trace the gray model on the sheet, then compare it with the chart your school uses for the strokes. This page does not give stroke directions, because US handwriting programs such as Zaner-Bloser and D’Nealian differ on them. A finished capital C in this font reaches the top line and sits on the baseline. It is taller than the lowercase c and does not drop below the baseline.
How do you write a lowercase c in cursive?
Trace the gray model and check the strokes against your school’s chart, the same way you would for the capital. The finished lowercase c is a small letter: it reaches the dashed midline, not the top line, and sits on the baseline. In the trace rows it stands alone, but in the word rows it joins the next letter the way the font joins them, as in the pairs ca and cu.
What does the cursive letter c look like?
The cursive letter c is a small letter that fills the space between the baseline and the dashed midline. The capital C is the same letter at full height, reaching the top line. Neither one has a tail below the baseline, so the descender line is not needed for c.
Other capitals on the sheet, such as L, M, N and V, also reach the top line. Capital Y is different, because its tail goes below the baseline, as does the lowercase y. Looking at these differences helps you check that your c stays at the right height.
Does it show the stroke order with arrows?
No. The sheet does not show stroke order or arrows. The order and direction of strokes differ between handwriting programs, and a font cannot show them correctly. The first dark letter in each row is only a model to copy. To learn the order your class uses, follow the chart your teacher gives you and trace the model slowly before you copy it.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Is this cursive practice sheet free to print?
Yes. The tool is free and needs no account or sign-up. It runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and you print with the Print or save as PDF button.
Can I print only the capital or only the lowercase letter?
Yes. Set **Letters** to Capital C only or Lowercase c only, and the sheet then shows just that letter.
Which line size should I choose?
Use Extra large, 1 inch for pre-K to K, Large, 3/4 inch for K to 1st, Medium, 5/8 inch for 2nd (the default), or Small, 3/8 inch for 3rd and up. Pick the size that matches the writing lines your child uses at school.
Will the sheet fit on one page?
With the default settings, the sheet fits on one page of US Letter and of A4. At Extra large, 1 inch it is 325 mm tall, which is more than one page, and at Small, 3/8 inch it is 156 mm.
Can I save the sheet as a PDF instead of printing it?
Yes. Click Print or save as PDF, then choose the option to save as PDF in the browser's print dialog.
Can I add my own practice words?
Yes. Type up to 3 words in **Your own words**. They appear before the built-in words and count toward the number of word rows. A word that is too wide for the chosen line size is left out, and a note appears.
What does the descender line do?
It is an optional, lighter dashed line under the baseline for letters with tails, such as f, g, j, p, q, y and z. The lowercase c does not reach it, so you can turn it off for a sheet that only has c.
