Cursive numbers are the digits 0 to 9 written with the smooth, slanted strokes of cursive handwriting. This page makes cursive number practice sheets: each number appears in a traditional school cursive font on handwriting lines, with light gray copies to trace and blank rows to write on. It can add the number word in cursive, such as seven. It runs in your web browser, is free, and nothing is uploaded.
Numbers in cursive are not joined to each other the way letters are. In many school programs they are the same shapes as printed numbers, written with the same slant as cursive letters. That is what this sheet shows, so it works as number practice for children who are learning cursive.
You can use what you make here in class or in things you sell, such as Etsy printables and Teachers Pay Teachers, with no credit needed.

How to make cursive numbers practice sheets
- Choose the numbers in Numbers: Digits 0 to 9 (the default), 1 to 10, 1 to 20, or Choose my own range, which opens From and To boxes for any numbers from 0 to 100.
- Choose Number words: No words, or Add a row to trace the word, which adds the number as a word (seven) after the digits.
- Choose Page layout: Many numbers on a page, or One number on each page, which fills the rest of each page with blank rows.
- Set Line size: Extra large (pre-K–K), Large (K–1st), Medium (2nd) or Small (3rd and up). It starts at Large.
- Set Tracing rows (0 to 6) and Blank rows to write on (0 to 4).
- Choose Tracing letters: Light gray, or Dotted outline if your printer prints gray too faintly.
- Look at the sheet preview. It shows how the pages will print and updates each time you change a setting.
- Select Print or save as PDF. Use Reset settings to return to the defaults.
Choose US Letter or A4 in the print dialog and print at 100% scale (called Actual size in many dialogs) so the lines keep their true height. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet again.
How do you write numbers in cursive?
Write numbers the way you were taught, with the slant and smooth strokes of your cursive letters. Digits stay separate from each other: you lift the pencil between digits, so 25 is two separate shapes. Check how your school’s handwriting program draws digits such as 1, 4, 7 and 9, because programs differ on small details like the top of the 1 and the cross on the 7.
This sheet shows each digit in a cursive font on the same top line, midline and baseline as the cursive letter sheets, so the size and slant match the letters the child is learning.
Are there cursive number words?
Yes. Number words such as one, two and seven are ordinary words, and in cursive they are joined like any other word. Choose Add a row to trace the word in Number words, and each number gets a row with its word to trace. This is good practice for joining letters, with a word the child already knows.
What order should children practice numbers in?
Start with the digits 0 to 9 one page at a time, then 1 to 10 with the number words. Move to 1 to 20 when the single digits are steady. A custom range, for example 50 to 60, is useful for practicing the teens, tens and hundreds you are working on in class.
How can I use the sheets in a lesson?
Use one number per page for a child who is learning a new digit, and many numbers on a page for review. Ask the child to say each number as they trace it, and to write it three times alone on the blank rows. For counting practice, choose 1 to 10 with Add a row to trace the word, which pairs each digit with its word.
Why practice numbers in a cursive font?
Children who are learning cursive often meet numbers in their worksheets and notebooks written in the same hand as their letters. Practicing the digits on the same four-line grid as the letters keeps size and slant consistent in everything they write. It also gives children who like handwriting a different way to practice counting.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Is there a different way to write numbers in cursive?
Numerals are not connected to each other in cursive. Most programs use shapes close to printed numbers, with small differences by program. If your school teaches a particular style, follow its model.
Can I copy and paste cursive numbers?
No. This page makes printable practice sheets for writing by hand; it is not a text converter.
Can I practice numbers above 20?
Yes. Choose Choose my own range and enter From and To, with numbers from 0 to 100.
Can I use the sheets for older children?
Yes. Choose Small or Medium line size and a custom range such as 10 to 50. Older students can use the sheets to practice neat, legible numbers for math work.
Which line size should I choose?
Use Extra large for pre-K to kindergarten, Large for kindergarten to 1st grade, Medium for 2nd grade and Small for 3rd grade and up. This page starts at Large.
How do I save the sheet as a PDF?
Select Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog. Pick US Letter or A4 first and print at 100% scale so the sizes stay correct.
Can I sell the worksheets I make here?
Yes. The sheets you make here are royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including Etsy printables, Teachers Pay Teachers and Amazon KDP workbooks. You do not need to give credit. The only limit is that you may not copy the generator itself to run a competing service; see the [terms](/terms/).
