This cursive T practice sheet is a free tool that makes a printable worksheet for the capital T and the lowercase t in traditional US cursive. It runs in your web browser, so nothing is uploaded, and you do not need an account or sign-up.
Each sheet is drawn on handwriting lines with a top line, a dashed midline and a baseline. You can include a big model of the letters, rows to trace the capital and the lowercase, rows of letter pairs, practice words and blank rows to write on. You choose the line size, the number of rows, the tracing style and the color, and the preview updates as you change them. The sheet prints on US Letter or A4 paper.
How to use the Cursive T practice sheet
- Set Letters to Capital T and lowercase t, Capital T only, or Lowercase t only.
- Choose a Line size: Extra large, 1 inch (pre-K–K); Large, 3/4 inch (K–1st); Medium, 5/8 inch (2nd); or Small, 3/8 inch (3rd and up). The default is Medium.

- Turn the Big model of the letter at the top checkbox and the Show descender line checkbox on or off.
- Choose the paper size (US Letter or A4) and edit the title on the sheet if you want a different one.
- Check the preview, then select Print or save as PDF.
Your settings are saved in the page address, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet. Select New worksheet for a different sheet with the same settings; each sheet has a short worksheet code shown under the buttons. Reset settings restores the defaults.
How do you write a capital T in cursive?
Trace the gray model on the sheet, and compare it with the chart your school uses for the strokes, because stroke order differs between handwriting programs such as Zaner-Bloser and D’Nealian. In the font used here, the finished capital T reaches the top line and sits on the baseline, so it is as tall as the other capitals. Trace it in the capital row first, then write it alone in the blank rows.
How do you write a lowercase t in cursive?
Trace the gray model in the lowercase row, and compare it with your school’s chart for the strokes. The finished lowercase t is a medium-height letter: it stops between the midline and the top line, and it sits on the baseline. It is finished with a crossbar.
What does the cursive letter t look like?
The cursive letter t appears on this sheet in two forms: a capital T and a lowercase t. The capital is the taller of the two, reaching the top line. The lowercase is a lowercase tall letter, but it is shorter than b, d, f, h, k and l, because it stops below the top line.
Neither form goes below the baseline, so the t does not use the descender line. Letters with tails, such as f, g, j, p, q, y and z, do go below the baseline.
Is this cursive practice sheet free to print?
Yes. The tool is free, needs no account or sign-up, and runs in your web browser without uploading anything. Select Print or save as PDF, or use the browser’s print dialog to save a PDF.
The default sheet fits on one page of US Letter or A4. At the largest line size, Extra large (1 inch), the default sheet is 325 mm tall and runs onto more than one page.
Does it show the stroke order with arrows?
No. The sheet does not show stroke order or arrows, because the order and direction of strokes differ between handwriting programs, and a font cannot show them correctly. The first dark letter in each row is only a model to copy.
To learn the strokes, compare the sheet with the chart your school uses. Then use the dark model and the gray copies to match the shape.
Can I print only the capital or only the lowercase letter?
Yes. Set Letters to Capital T only or Lowercase t only. Use the Letters control to decide which forms are on the sheet, and then set the trace rows to match what you need.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Which letter pairs are on the sheet?
The letter pairs row is built from the practice words. It uses two-letter pieces where t sits next to a neighbor in a word, such as ti, tr, tu, rt, tl, ta, te, nt, at, ut and tt. The default row shows ti, tr, tu and rt, each once as a dark model and once as a gray copy to trace.
Which practice words are used for the letter t?
The built-in list is tiger, tree, turtle, table, tent, cat, water and butter. The first five start with t, and the last three contain t later in the word. The default sheet uses tiger and tree, with three gray copies of "tiger" at the default size.
Can I add my own words?
Yes. Type up to 3 words into **Your own words (optional)**, using letters, hyphens and apostrophes only, up to 14 characters each. Your words are placed before the built-in words and count toward the number of word rows. A word that is too wide for one row at the chosen line size is left out, and a note appears.
Why does one practice word take two rows?
A word that is too wide for two copies on one row gets a row with the dark model and a second row with the gray copy. This happens most often with longer words at larger line sizes.
Why are the letters not connected in the top rows?
In the big model row and the trace rows, the capital and the lowercase letters are placed one by one, not connected. In the word rows, the letters connect the way the cursive font joins them.
What does the descender line do?
The **Show descender line** checkbox adds a lighter dashed line under the baseline for letters with tails. It is on by default, and it helps when your practice words include f, g, j, p, q, y or z.
What is the difference between light gray and dotted outline tracing?
Both give the child a model to trace. Light gray prints solid pale letters, and a dotted outline uses less ink. The dark model letters are always black, whichever style you choose.
