Addition Within 100 Worksheets
What this skill is
Adding two-digit numbers where the ones do not carry — 34 + 25.
When it comes up: Early second grade.
The mistake to watch for
Misaligning the columns when copying from a horizontal problem, so 34 + 5 becomes 34 + 50.
How to help
Use graph paper or turn lined paper sideways. One digit per box keeps the columns honest.
Next: Addition with regrouping to 100.
A worked example
Try 34 + 25. Add the tens: 30 + 20 = 50. Add the ones: 4 + 5 = 9. Put them together: 50 + 9 = 59.
