Week 2 of 8

Week 2

3rd Grade → 4th Grade · Multiplication 6 9 and Context clues

Math

Multiplication: 6 to 9

The harder half of the multiplication table. Middle of third grade.

The mistake to watch for. Confusing 7 × 8 and 6 × 9 — both hover near 56 and 54, and neither has an obvious pattern to fall back on.

How to help. Drill the handful that are genuinely hard (6×7, 6×8, 7×8, 7×9) separately rather than running the whole table again.

A worked example

Try 7 × 8. Use what you know: 5 × 8 = 40 and 2 × 8 = 16. Add them: 40 + 16 = 56. So 7 × 8 = 56.
