Week 3 of 8

Week 3

3rd Grade → 4th Grade · Multiplication 10 12 and Reading comprehension

Math

Multiplication: 10 to 12

Facts with 10, 11, and 12. Late third grade.

The mistake to watch for. Applying the 11s trick (11 × 3 = 33) past 9, so 11 × 12 gets written as 1112.

How to help. Show where the pattern breaks. A rule that stops working is worth understanding, not just memorizing.

A worked example

Try 11 × 7. Multiply 10 × 7 = 70, then add one more 7: 70 + 7 = 77.
