The Kindergarten Worksheets Generator creates printable kindergarten worksheets for counting, writing numbers, comparing groups, addition, subtraction, shapes, patterns and letters. It runs in your web browser, is free, and needs no account or sign-up. Pick an activity, set the numbers, and print the sheet or save it as a PDF. Use it for kindergarten practice worksheets at school or at home, and for easier pre K worksheets by choosing smaller numbers; every sheet is a fresh one-page activity sheet with an answer key. All pictures are simple drawings made for this site, such as apples, balls, fish and stars, so the sheets print clearly in black and white or in color.

You can use what you make here in class or in things you sell, such as Etsy printables, Teachers Pay Teachers and KDP activity books, with no credit needed.

How to use the Kindergarten Worksheets Generator

  1. Type a heading in Title on the sheet. It starts as “Kindergarten Practice.”
  2. Choose an Activity from the list, such as Count and write the number, Picture addition, or Mixed review page.
  3. Set the controls that appear for that activity. For counting, pick Count up to (5, 10 or 20); for tracing, pick Numbers (1 to 5 or 1 to 10); for addition and subtraction, pick Numbers within (5 or 10).
  4. Choose a Pictures type, or leave it on Mixed to get a different picture on each problem.
  5. Tick the checkboxes you need, such as Show the numbers under the pictures or Some groups are the same.
  6. Choose Spacing: Fill the page, or Fewer problems, more room for bigger writing spaces.
  7. Check the preview. It updates as soon as you change a setting.
  8. Set the paper size to US Letter or A4.
  9. Click Print or save as PDF.

Each sheet comes with an answer key on a separate page after the worksheet, because Include answer key is on by default. Click New worksheet to get a different sheet with the same settings, and note the worksheet code shown under the buttons. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet. Reset settings returns everything to the defaults.

What should kindergarten worksheets cover?

Kindergarten worksheets should cover counting, writing numbers, comparing groups, simple addition and subtraction, shapes, patterns and letters. These are the core skills in the Common Core kindergarten math standards, which include counting to 100 by ones and tens (K.CC.1), writing numbers 0 to 20 (K.CC.3), counting to tell how many (K.CC.4–5), and comparing groups as greater than, less than or equal (K.CC.6).

The standards also ask children to add and subtract within 10 (K.OA) and to name shapes regardless of their orientation or size (K.G.2). This tool’s activities map to those goals. Some shape problems turn shapes at an angle, so children learn that a triangle is still a triangle when it is turned.

Which worksheets suit pre-K?

Worksheets for pre-K work best with small numbers and simple tasks. Set Count up to to 5 and Numbers to 1 to 5, then use Count and circle the number or Trace the number and color the boxes. Both give a child one clear job per problem.

For shapes, start with Name each shape, or Find and color one shape using the four basic shapes. For letters, use Find the letter with the grid set to only a few different letters, which is easier to scan. Choose Fewer problems, more room so the writing spaces are large enough for small hands.

How do I make kindergarten addition worksheets?

Set Activity to Picture addition and Numbers within to 5 for very early addition, or 10 for sums within 10. Each problem shows pictures for each group, so children can count the pictures and combine them. Turn on Show the numbers under the pictures if children need to connect the picture count to the written number.

Use real objects before paper. Lay out counters, blocks or small toys, have the child add two groups, then point to the matching picture on the sheet. Picture subtraction works the same way, but children cross out pictures to take some away. The answer key shows the full number sentence, so you can check each answer quickly.

How many worksheets should a kindergartner do a day?

The kindergarten standards do not set a number of worksheets per day, so there is no official target. A practical rule is one short session, usually one page, and then a break. Each sheet here is designed to fit on one page, so one sheet is a natural session.

Stop when attention drops, even if the page is not finished. Let the child point to each picture as they count, and keep the same activity for a few days before switching so the skill has time to settle.

Questions teachers and parents ask

Are the kindergarten worksheets free to print?

Yes. The tool is free and runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. Click Print or save as PDF to print the sheet, or use your browser's print dialog to save a PDF.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. **Include answer key** is on by default, and the key prints on its own separate page after the worksheet. Untick the box if you want a worksheet without the key.

Can I make a different sheet with the same settings?

Yes. Click **New worksheet** to make a new sheet with your current settings. Each sheet has its own worksheet code, shown under the buttons.

Can I save my settings and come back to them later?

Yes. The page address stores your settings, so you can bookmark it or share the link to open the same sheet again. Click **Reset settings** to return to the defaults.

Does every worksheet fit on one page?

Yes. Each activity fits on one page, set to US Letter or A4. The number of problems fills the page by default, and Fewer problems, more room gives bigger spaces.

Does this tool cover sight words for kindergarten?

No. This tool covers number, shape, pattern and letter-finding activities. For sight words, use the sight word worksheets page linked below.

Can children trace letters on these sheets?

Not on this page. Find the letter circles copies of a letter in a grid, but tracing is covered by the separate letter tracing tool.

Can I sell the kindergarten worksheets I make here on Etsy or Teachers Pay Teachers?

Yes. The kindergarten worksheets and answer keys you make here are royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including Etsy printables, Teachers Pay Teachers and KDP activity books. You do not need to give credit. The only limit is that you may not copy the generator itself to run a competing service; see the [terms](/terms/).
