This free multiplication worksheets tool makes printable worksheets in seconds, using times tables up to 12 or factors of 1 to 3 digits. It runs in your web browser, so nothing is uploaded, and no account or sign-up is needed. You can make multiplication practice worksheets for one times table, a mix of facts, or longer problems with bigger numbers. Each sheet can include an answer key, and the preview updates as you change a setting. Use it for basic multiplication worksheets at home or in class, or as a source of math multiplication worksheets for practice sessions that need to change from week to week.

How to use the Multiplication Worksheets Tool

  1. Leave First factor on Times tables (2 to 12) for times-table practice, or choose 1, 2 or 3 digits for longer multiplication.
  2. Set Second factor to 1 digit or 2 digits.
  3. To practice one table, choose it in Practice one table, such as The 7 times table. To use a mix, keep Mix of tables and set Largest table in the mix from 3 to 12.
  4. Set Problems to 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30 or 40.
  5. Set Columns to 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
  6. Choose Layout: Stacked or Across.
  7. Type a Title on the sheet or keep the default, Multiplication.
  8. Keep Include answer key ticked, or untick it to leave the key off.
  9. Press New worksheet until the sheet looks right.
  10. Press Print or save as PDF, and choose US Letter or A4 paper size.

The preview updates as soon as you change a setting. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet again. Press Reset settings to return to the defaults.

For one table, pick it under Practice one table. For a gentler mix, lower Largest table in the mix, for example to 5 for a sheet that mixes the 2, 3, 4 and 5 tables.

The answer key prints on its own page, so the sheet can be handed out without the answers.

How do I make a worksheet for one times table?

Leave First factor on Times tables (2 to 12), then choose a single table in Practice one table, such as The 7 times table. Every problem on the sheet then uses that table, so one factor is always the same number.

Start with the 2, 5 and 10 tables, which have clear patterns. Ask why the answers in the 5 table always end in 0 or 5, or why the digits of 9 × 1 up to 9 × 10 always add up to 9. Looking for patterns like these turns memorising into noticing.

If one table keeps going wrong, practice that table on its own with Practice one table, then put it back into a mix. Slips usually happen between facts that sit close together. For example, 6 × 8 = 42 or 7 × 8 = 54 are typical mistakes.

Which multiplication worksheets suit 3rd grade?

For 3rd grade, set First factor to Times tables (2 to 12) and set Largest table in the mix to 9 first, then 12. The aim is quick, accurate recall of the facts.

Use ten-problem sheets and time them gently. Ten problems a day works better than one full page once a week. Once children know the 2, 5 and 10 tables, raise Largest table in the mix by one at a time, so each new table is practiced alongside the old ones.

On a mixed page, some children add the two numbers instead of multiplying, especially after a run of addition. An answer like 7 × 3 = 10 shows the mistake straight away.

How do I make 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication worksheets?

Set First factor to 2 digits and Second factor to 2 digits, then press New worksheet until the problems look right. This suits children who have already practiced 2-digit by 1-digit problems.

A 2-digit by 2-digit problem has two partial products. In 38 × 21, the second partial product is 38 × 2 tens. Because it is a number of tens, it needs a zero placeholder, or a shift one place to the left. Leaving it out makes the answer far too small.

Ask children to estimate first. 38 × 21 is about 40 × 20, so an answer near 800 makes sense and an answer near 114 does not.

Carrying is the other common error. In 46 × 7, 6 × 7 = 42, so write 2 and carry 4 tens. Then 4 tens × 7 gives 28 tens, and 28 tens plus the 4 carried tens makes 32 tens, so the answer is 322. Forgetting the carry gives 282 instead of 322.

Can a single-table sheet have more than twelve problems?

No. A single table has only twelve different facts, so a sheet for one table has at most twelve problems, with the table’s number in either position. The tool does not repeat a problem on a sheet, so choose 10 or 12 for one-table practice.

For larger sheets, use the mix instead. Keep Mix of tables and set Largest table in the mix to give enough different facts for 15 to 40 problems.

Questions teachers and parents ask

Are the answers checked?

Yes. Each product is worked out and then divided back by one factor, and a problem is only used when that gives the other factor exactly. When **Include answer key** is on, the key prints on its own separate page after the worksheet.

Is this multiplication worksheets tool free to use?

Yes. It runs in your web browser, nothing is uploaded, and you do not need an account or sign-up.

How do I save a worksheet as a PDF?

Press **Print or save as PDF**. You can also use the browser's print dialog to save a PDF. Paper size can be set to US Letter or A4.

Can I open the same sheet again later?

Yes. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet. Each sheet also has a short worksheet code shown under the buttons.

Which settings suit 4th grade?

Start with **First factor** set to 2 digits and **Second factor** set to 1 digit. Then move to 3 digits by 1 digit, and then 2 digits by 2 digits.

How many problems can I choose?

You can choose 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30 or 40 problems. For a sheet on one table, choose 12 or fewer.

Can I leave the answer key off?

Yes. Untick **Include answer key**. It is ticked by default.
