Thank you in cursive is written with a capital T, then joined lowercase letters: h, a, n, k for Thank and y, o, u for you. This page shows the phrase in a traditional school cursive font on handwriting lines, ready to trace, copy into a note or print. It runs in your web browser, it is free, and nothing you type is uploaded.

The sheet opens with two messages, Thank you! and Thank you very much!, so it fits on one page. Each gets a dark model line, light gray letters to trace and a blank row to write on. Replace them with your own words, such as Thank you for the gift., then choose the line size and paper size.

You can use what you make here in class or in things you sell, such as Etsy printables and Teachers Pay Teachers, with no credit needed.

How to practice thank you in cursive

  1. Check the Practice menu. It is already set to Sentences.
  2. Read the messages in the Sentences (one per line) box. Keep them, or type your own, one message on each line. The box takes up to 40 lines; a third message may take a second page.
  3. Set Line size for the writer: Extra large (pre-K–K), Large (K–1st), Medium (2nd) or Small (3rd and up).
  4. Set Tracing rows (0 to 6) and Blank rows to write on (0 to 4). Each message gets one dark model line, then the tracing rows, then the blank rows.
  5. Choose Tracing letters: Light gray, or Dotted outline if your printer prints gray too faintly.
  6. Leave Show descender line on. The tail of y drops below the baseline.
  7. Look at the sheet preview. It shows how the pages will print and updates each time you change a setting, so you can fix the size before you print.
  8. Select Print or save as PDF. Use New worksheet to make another sheet with the same settings, and Reset settings to return to the defaults.

Choose US Letter or A4 in the print dialog and print at 100% scale (called Actual size in many dialogs) so the lines keep their true height. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same sheet again.

How do you write thank you in cursive?

Start with a capital T, then join h, a, n and k to finish Thank. Leave a space about the width of a small o and write you: the y has a tail that drops below the baseline, and it joins to o and u. Lift the pencil only at the end of a word and to cross the t.

The sheet shows each message once as a dark model, so you can compare how the letters join before tracing them in gray.

Which letters are hardest in thank you?

The capital T and the y are the two shapes that most often need extra practice. If either is difficult, practice it alone first on its own page: cursive T and cursive Y each give a large model, tracing rows and practice words. Both letters also appear in many other common words, so the practice carries over to everything else you write.

How do you write a thank-you note in cursive?

Write a short message such as Thank you for the gift. in the Sentences box, trace it once, and write it again on the blank row. Longer messages wrap onto a second row, and a smaller line size lets more of the message fit on one line.

This page makes handwriting practice sheets. It does not produce fancy cursive text that you can copy and paste into a document or a message; the letters are for tracing and writing by hand.

What does the cursive font look like?

The tool draws the letters in Playwrite US Trad, an open source font (SIL Open Font License) modeled on traditional American school cursive. Its letters sit on the same top line, dashed midline and baseline the child writes on, so the model and the page match.

Questions teachers and parents ask

Can I type my own name in the thank-you message?

Yes. Edit any line in the Sentences box, for example Dear Emma, thank you for the book. Letters, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and common punctuation are drawn. A line that is too long for one row wraps onto the next row.

Can I copy and paste thank you in cursive?

No. This page makes printable practice sheets for writing by hand; it is not a text converter. Print the sheet and write your message on a card or note with a pen or pencil.

Can I make a sheet with only one message?

Yes. Delete the other lines in the Sentences box and set Tracing rows and Blank rows to the numbers you want.

Which line size should I choose?

Use Extra large for pre-K to kindergarten, Large for kindergarten to 1st grade, Medium for 2nd grade and Small for 3rd grade and up. Medium is the default for cursive.

How do I save the sheet as a PDF?

Select Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF in your browser's print dialog. Pick US Letter or A4 first and print at 100% scale so the line heights stay correct.

Can I sell the cursive sheets I make here?

Yes. The sheets you make here are royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including Etsy printables, Teachers Pay Teachers and Amazon KDP workbooks. You do not need to give credit. The only limit is that you may not copy the generator itself to run a competing service; see the [terms](/terms/).
