Times Tables Practice is a free tool for learning the times tables and multiplication facts. You can answer questions one at a time on screen, study the tables as cards, or print a worksheet with an answer key. It runs in your web browser, and you do not need an account or sign-up to use it.
Pick any tables from 1 to 12, and add 13 to 15 or 13 to 20 if you need them. The same settings control every view, so one setup can give you a times table practice session, a printable sheet for paper work, or a card-style chart. The tool is also known as a timetables or timestables practice page, and it covers the multiplication times table from 1 × 1 up to your chosen limit.
How to use the Times Tables Practice
- Choose a view. Use the Mode control to pick See the tables, Practice on screen (the default) or Printable worksheet.
- Tick the tables you want. Tables 2 to 12 are ticked by default. Use the quick links to select 2–12, 2–5 or 6–9, or to clear the choice. Leave Include both orders (7 × 8 and 8 × 7) ticked to mix both orders.
- Add bigger tables if needed. Use Bigger tables to add 13 to 15 or 13 to 20.
- Set the limit. In Times table goes up to, choose × 10, × 12 (the default), × 15 or × 20.
- For on-screen practice, choose a Question type, a Number of questions and a Countdown timer. Type each answer in the box, then press Enter or Check.
- For a worksheet, choose a Worksheet type, then set Problems, Columns and Blanks. Leave Include answer key ticked to print the answers on a separate page.
- Print or save. Choose US Letter or A4 under Paper, then press Print or save as PDF.
The sheet preview updates as soon as you change a setting. New worksheet gives a different set of problems with the same settings. The page address stores your settings, so a bookmarked or shared link opens the same view, and Reset settings restores the defaults.
How do I learn my times table quickly?
Short, regular practice on a few tables at a time works better than one long session. Start with the tables that have the clearest patterns, then add the next table once those feel easy.
The 2 times table is 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24. The 5 times table ends in 0 or 5: 5, 10, 15 and so on up to 60. The 10 times table is the same numbers with a zero added, from 10 up to 120. Knowing these three gives you a base for other facts.
Is there a 13 times table?
Yes. The 13 times table is a normal multiplication table, running from 13 × 1 = 13 up to 13 × 12 = 156. Many school lists stop at 12 × 12, so 13 is usually extra practice. This tool adds the 13 times table when you choose Bigger tables, and it calculates 13 to 20 the same way as any other table.
How to use a multiplication table?
Find one number along the top row and the other along the left column, then read the number where they meet. For 7 × 8, go to row 7 and column 8, and the answer is 56.
Order does not change the answer, so 8 × 7 is also 56. This is why the See the tables view shows tables 2 to 12 up to × 12 as 132 facts, but only 77 are different. For example, 3 × 7 and 7 × 3 are the same fact. Use the table to check your answers: try a fact first, then look it up.
What are some tips for memorizing multiplication tables?
Look for patterns, because they reduce what you need to remember.
- The 9 times table: the tens digit goes up by one while the ones digit goes down by one, so 9 × 3 = 27 and 9 × 4 = 36. The tens digit is always one less than the number you multiply by.
- The 11 times table: up to 11 × 9, the answer is the digit repeated twice, such as 33 for 11 × 3. From 11 × 10 the answers have three digits. For 11 × 12 = 132, the first digit is 1, then 1 + 2 = 3, then 2.
- The 6 times table: 6 times an even number ends in that same digit, so 6 × 4 = 24 and 6 × 8 = 48.
Practice the facts you miss rather than the whole table at once. Say each fact aloud, or write it out, to help it stick.
Questions teachers and parents ask
Is the times tables practice free and does it need an account?
Yes. Nothing you type is uploaded, because the tool runs in your browser. Your settings are kept in the page address, so no account is needed to save them.
Can I choose which times tables to practice, and set a timer?
Yes. Tick any tables from 1 to 12, add 13 to 15 or 13 to 20 with Bigger tables, and choose a countdown of 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes. When the timer reaches zero, the quiz ends and the answers given so far are scored.
Can I print the worksheets and the answers?
Yes. Choose US Letter or A4, then press Print or save as PDF. The answer key prints on its own page after the worksheet when Include answer key is ticked. Printing during a quiz gives you the worksheet for the same settings, not the quiz screen.
What happens when an answer is wrong?
The tool shows whether you were right or wrong straight away, along with the full fact, such as 7 × 8 = 56. Skip counts a question as missed, and Finish now ends the quiz. The end screen lists the missed facts and offers Practice the missed facts, Play again and a switch to the printable worksheet.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes. On phones, the number keypad opens when you need to type an answer. If you tick Check as soon as I have typed enough digits, the answer is checked without pressing Enter.
Will two people get the same worksheet?
Each sheet has a short worksheet code shown under the buttons. The same code and settings always give the same sheet, while New worksheet makes a different set with the same settings. No problem is repeated on a single sheet.
